Date released: March 9, 2020
In light of the evolving national response efforts to COVID–19, we will be re-scheduling the 72nd annual meeting of the Arkansas Public Health Association scheduled for April 7-9, 2020 in Little Rock, AR. The new conference dates are September 9-11, 2020. The conference will still take place at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Little Rock, AR. On behalf of the Arkansas Public Health Association Executive Committee and the conference planning committee, we regret any inconvenience and disruption this change in schedule may cause, but we recognize the current challenges this public health event has and will create for our public health partners.
Although the risk for Arkansas remains low for the general public, more cases of COVID-19 are likely to be identified in the coming days and it is also likely that person-to-person spread will continue to occur in communities throughout the United States. As such, we want to support the work of our frontline partners in state and local health departments and the collective network of public health practitioners in our states and others that are responding to the COVID-19 outbreak.
The APHA Executive Committee and conference planning team will be working over the coming days to determine alternative mechanisms to educate and empower APHA members as we continue to navigate this uncertain situation. Stay tuned for additional information.
